01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located at the heart of Morehouse College, The Black Coffee Company offers an exceptional coffee shop experience that transcends the typical caffeine fix. This vibrant spot, nestled at 830 Westview Dr SW in Atlanta, GA, is more than just a place to grab your morning brew—it’s a cultural hub that celebrates Black artistry through its thoughtfully crafted menu and welcoming atmosphere.

The Black Coffee Company’s menu is a brilliant fusion of creativity and quality, boasting an array of intriguing coffee concoctions such as the Afrocano, No Cap, and the boldly named The Antonio. Each drink conveys a unique story and flavor profile, crafting a sensory journey that delights both coffee aficionados and casual sippers alike. For tea lovers, options like Cash Money Matcha and The Auntie bring organic and flavorful alternatives that refresh and invigorate.

The food offerings complement the drinks beautifully, with innovative dishes like the Bagel & Boujee – a standout choice featuring a salmon bagel that breaks away from the ordinary cream cheese norm, leaving a lasting impression on guests. Items such as Young Cheesy and Summertime perfectly balance comfort and sophistication, ensuring every bite is as gratifying as the coffee it accompanies.

Visitors frequently praise the atmosphere as uplifting and positive, energized by a young and passionate team whose warm smiles make every visit feel personal and bright. As highlighted by patrons like Kat L., the vibe here blends the vibrant spirit of Atlanta with a sincere homage to Black culture through clever, artist-inspired drink names. Beautiful Atmosphere, Mixed Impressions We stopped here while passing through and ordered an affogato, a latte, and bagels. The fact that they offered salmon bagels was a nice surprise — much better than the standard cream cheese option you typically find at coffee shops. As for the coffee, it was brewed well, but the beans themselves lacked flavor. The taste was flat and unremarkable, possibly due to stale grind or poor roasting. Service also felt a bit cold — not rude, just not particularly warm or welcoming. The interior and atmosphere, however, are a solid 10/10. Beautifully designed, very cozy, and inviting. Overall, a visually impressive café with room for improvement in coffee quality and service warmth.

Black Coffee at Morehouse College (next to the Bookstore) is the perfect stop and start to my day as I walk from the train station to campus. The young, fabulous team always greets you with a smile, even early in the morning. Their customer service is top-notch, and the vibe is full of positive energy. Paying homage to how the menu features clever, creative names representing Black artists, so thoughtful and inspiring. Great selection of teas, coffees, and grab-n-go items. My preference is the craft-made sorrel lemonade, refreshing every time. Great price point for both the students and employees across the AUC. Hoping to see a Vegan bakery/breakfast item added to their menu soon. Fantastic customer service.

In town for the night and the next morning we googled “coffee shop near me” and we ended up here. I loved EVERY SINGLE thing about Black Coffee from the moment we walked in. The decor, the vibe, the smiling faces the diversity it was all amazing we didn’t plan on staying to drink our coffee but we couldn’t just leave. The coffees, smoothies and cake were something we talked about well after we left to get back on the road. I hate tomorrow morning I’ll have to wake up and settle for coffee at home
